📌 Overview

IISc Bengaluru is India’s flagship research university. The four-year Bachelor of Science (Research) admits students using JEE Advanced and / or the IISER Aptitude Test (IAT). Candidates apply on the IISc portal and upload the relevant rank. B.Tech programmes (Mathematics and Computing, plus newer 2026–27 programmes notified on the B.Tech UG site) are filled only through JoSAA on the JEE Advanced rank — IISc has stated that no separate campus form is needed for those B.Tech seats.

M.Tech / research programmes use GATE, JAM, CEED and IISc interviews. Portals: iisc.ac.in/admissions, bs-ug.iisc.ac.in, btech-ug.iisc.ac.in, admissions.iisc.ac.in.

📋 Eligibility

• Class 12 with the science combination listed by IISc for that programme.
• A valid JEE Advanced and / or IAT rank (2026 note: result valid as on 1 August 2026).
• Board-mark rules follow that year’s IISc / JoSAA brochure.

📊 Weightage reality

• There is no extra “IISc written paper” for B.S. Your Advanced or IAT paper is the exam. Cut-offs are extremely high.
• IAT has Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Biology. Advanced is PCM at IIT depth.

📚 What to study (order)

1. This year’s official brochure / information bulletin.
2. Official previous year papers and keys from the conducting body.
3. NCERT PDFs from ncert.nic.in when the paper is school science or GS.
4. One standard book per subject. Stop collecting duplicate PDFs.
5. Current affairs: newspaper + PIB if the paper has GA.
6. Timed mocks on the real interface.

📖 Books that serious candidates actually finish

• Science UG / IAT / NEST / JAM / BITSAT: NCERT 11–12 first; H.C. Verma / D.C. Pandey for Physics; official PYQs; IIT JAM subject books of that paper.
• Medical PG: subject-wise standard MBBS texts + last 10 years INI-CET / NEET PG recalls after you finish first-read.
• MBA extras (XAT / CMAT / IPMAT): Arun Sharma / Time or IMS sectional books + official mocks; XAT decision-making needs case practice.
• Law: AILET / CLAT official samples; legal reasoning is passage-based.
• Design: official UCEED / NID / NIFT sample papers and drawing practice daily.
• UPSC-family: Laxmikanth, Spectrum, NCERT, Shankar Environment, Ramesh Singh selective, official papers.
• SSC / RRB / Bank extras: Kiran / Rakesh Yadav PYQ, Lucent, Neetu Singh English, Adda / Oliveboard mocks.
• CA Foundation: ICAI study material and RTPs only as the core; any teacher is extra.
